Park Fund

Visualizing a city’s commitment to parks

Back in November 2024, Lexington citizens stepped up and overwhelmingly approved a significant public investment in its parks and recreation. The Park Fund is projected to generate over $8 million annually to make the city’s parks, trails, rec facilities, and programming even better. This isn't just pocket change; it's a real investment in the community's health and happiness.

Our collaboration focused on creating a vibrant and versatile visual identity. Recognizing the diverse elements of the park system — from active recreation like playgrounds and swimming pools to natural spaces like walking and biking trails — we prioritized color and a meaningful symbol. The resulting mark features twelve points, directly representing Lexington’s twelve districts and subtly referencing the tulip poplar, Kentucky’s state tree. This approach yields an identity that is both representative and grounded, effectively communicating the Park Fund’s role in cultivating community spaces.
